I went out to start my truck the other day and popped the battery out of my 99 and put it in the 68. i put the key in and hardly touched it and it started right up. I drove it around the block and went to my grandparents before i took it back to its resting place. when i came back (about 5 minutes later) it wouldn't start. it was getting fuel so it has to be a spark problem. ive replaced the starter, starter relay, and the cables. the points and stuff look clean. everything seemed tight.... what can cause this problem? ignition coil? alternator? bad wiring? what would ya'll guess?
well i relpaced the spark plugs today. they were pitch black so i bet that was one problem. the other problem must be wiring and i see where the problem is. ill try to get more photos. but after i change the plugs the truck started up without hesitation.
I told my grandfather "how is it that you bought a 68 vette for 26k and it doesnt even start anymore, and you overhauled a 66 t-bird and you have to pump the crap out of the gas to get it to start, but i bought a 68 f100 for $450 and spent another $100 to get it running right and i dont even have to pump the gas." lol he was mad at me after that comment.
I bought a 71 F100 Custom as a work truck for $130. Spent 6 hours rebuilding the carb and it started right up... Paid 20 for a master break cylinder at a yard and now it rides like a dream. Sure everytime it runs rust holes get bigger and bigger... but it never died once after rebuilding the carb. That is why I like ford!
wow... who ever rebuilt this one did it to last. From what I heard when I got it was it was rebuilt 17 years ago. It had about 8 months to a year of weeds grown around it, honestly im surprized it wasnt seized up, and I knew that a t-bird is a ford but i was comenting primarily on the vette.

lol i figured you knew but i was just stating the obvious haha. i dont like ford cars unless its like a 65ish galaxie.
They have lost the cars for a while... they did try to resurect the Ford 500. When it came out they didnt sell... Now they are known as the Ford Taurus. Sound Familiar?

I bet if they had called them Galaxies or Fairlanes and offered them in 2 door or 4 door, they couldn't build them fast enough! Look at the Charger and Challenger.
