350 ignition problem

I have an ignition problem with a 1973 ford 350 camper special PU. I have tested and replaced the coil and the ignition box that sits on the fender well. I still get no spark from the coil during attempted starts. I have only had the truck for a short time so don't know much about it, I've done most of my work on GM stuff. My first question is; will the coil wire shoot a spark when held close to the terminal (and starter is engaged) if the pickup coil inside the distributor cap is bad? The engine has always started within one or two turns or just as you release the key when trying to start it. It is as if something steals all the fire if the starter is engaged. The starter does not seem to drag and most times it starts easily. However last week it quit while idling and would not restart. The next day with help from a battery charger because I ran the battery down trying to start the night before, it started but soon quit again. Later the same day I got it running again and drove it to the house. Last night I started it and drove it to get gas, it quit again. It has gas, I had the module tested and it tested bad after heating up so I assumed that was the problem. However, after installing it I still get no spark. I have checked fuses but don't know if I've found them all. Thanks for your help!

I'm sure you'll find someone better in this dept than myself but, I think I would take a look at that igniton switch to be sure it is sending where it needs to go.
