I have been having sporadic issues with the button/system of my drivers side window. It is an '06 XLT SCrew. The window always reponds when I am lowering, but there are times when I hit the button and it won't come up. I wiggle the armrest, or fiddle with the button and it will eventually work. I haven't been to a dealer yet, but I know this will totally fail at the most inconvenient moment. The other three windows work great. Any ideas? I appreciate all replies.
It's the contacts inside the individual switch. They get a bit of dust and debris in them and then fail when the contacts blacken.
I took mine out, cleaned them, reinstalled, and they worked fine for a week. Then it was worse.
I walked down to the dealer, shelled out around $58 IIRC for the new switch module and haven't had an issue since.
Cleaning works temporarily...replacing is much less frustrating.
I replaced mine and cleaned the original for a backup and put in the console. I didn't want to be out somewhere and not be able to roll up the window. Oh how I wish manual windows were available on XLT's.
