My drivers door 4-door switch is acting funny. At first I thought it was just me. Maybe I was fat fingering the switch and hitting the left-rear button. So, I now closely watch which button I'm pushing every single time. It's taken me 3 weeks to believe I wasn't the one to blame
So it appears the button for my drivers door is FUBAR'd. Weird thing is, it only messes up 1/2 the time. Not consistent at all. All the other window switches work just fine. Press it once, and nothing. Next press...and maybe it works. Frustrating as heck.
Luckily, I'm under warranty and I just need to get a appt. made. Just wondering if this is a common thing. I remember a few posts about window problems 1-2 yrs ago, but nothing recently
my old truck (which my parents have now) has had that go out; when they went into the dealership, the service advisor knew what was wrong with it before he even looked at it and told my dad exactly what it's gonna cost him.
I got another problem. In the summer, my windows squeak like crazy. Nothing like rolling up to a stop light looking over at the cute blonde in the topless jeep, and rolling down a squeaky window... If anyone finds a cure for that one, lemme know
I've been very lucky with power windows and Fords. Only 1 go bad in 10 years and about 8 different F-150's...I guess this makes it 2 now.
graphite or silicone...my windows do that also in high humidity or when their is lots of pollen out. I took some alcohol and cotton swabs and cleaned out the window tracks real well
why's it gotta be a blonde...ain't nothing wrong with a nice southern Brunette girl in a jeep
Mine just started doing it in the last week or so and I like you at first thought it was me.... I'm still in warranty so I have to call them so I can set an appointment.
I just bought a 2006 lincoln super crew last week, for a taxi. We are no longer driving 4 diesels to the job site everyday, (diesel hit $4.89 this week in CT). Anyway, the drivers door window has been doing the exact same thing you describe since i bought it, I guess its back to the dealer.
Mine is doing the same. I am still under warranty but is it worth the hassel of going to the dealer. If all they are doing is replacing the switch....how much could the switch really cost? Just seems like a headache.
On the drivers door, the front passenger switch doesn't go down. It'll bring the window up, but it doesn't make it go down. Have to use the switch on the passenger door to put the window down.
I tried to clean the switch after I pulled it, but I couldn't get the plastic off to clean anything....
My 05 started doing this a lot just before I traded it for my 08, I use to use electronic spray cleaner on my GMC, same problem, and it worked. Be careful and dont go crazy with the stuff as it can start melting things.
I had a problem with my driver's side power window - just plain stopped working. Thought maybe a fuse, etc., turned out that the wires which run through the door sill and were corroded.
My 05' does this periodically with the drivers side window. I've read it's probably a contact problem with the switch. Should be a way to clean these things. Mine's not bad enought yet to start ripping plastic loose to find out.
My 05 did this as well to the point where I had to stick part of my Leatherman in the front of the switch and jiggle it to get the window to go up. It is a pain to have the dealer do it, but since it was under warranty I let them do it. Just as soon would've picked up the switch and did it myself. Easy enough to get access to it.
