I finished my pyro install this evening, with my 60hp tow tune and the truck empty it reads 1100 degrees when you running it hard. Does that sound about right??

the gauge reading temp throws me off too, when not loaded (9k), at the time, could not see how i would be able to keep temps down, when it seemed as though it ran hot, not being loaded..meaning, temps seemed high, for just getting on the pedal.
Around town look for 4-800. 12 should be your max. even prolonged 1100 wont be good for your 7.3
Incorrect...
International (the guys who build our motors) says that 1250* sustained PRE TURBO temps are the red line.
You can tow all day long at 1250* and not hurt a thing other then your mileage. Anything over 1250* is on your own accord.
Again, you will NOT hurt a thing at 1100*... NOTHING.
As for going over the 1250* limit that IH says... its kind of up to your own risk taking abilities...
If your running empty all day at 600-800* and someone wants to play, its going to take a long time to do damage going over the 1250* mark (remember what EGT stands for- EXHAUST GAS TEMP- not piston temp)...
If your towing heavy and running 1100* for a few hours, it will take far less time to get the piston temps up to or above the damage point...
Your watching EGT's to protect the pistons, and an EGT gauge is not checking the temp of the pistons, just the gases that are around it.
