Im having an issue with my trucks temp not building. The truck sat for 2 days in mid 30 degree weather and it started right up this morning. I drove to work, about 15 miles, and the temp gauge moved a very small amount. Normally the temp jumps to normal range in about 5min. Coolant level is good, it drives and runs great. Could this be a thermostat issue? any thoughts?

 

Could be but you need a real set of gauges. The factory gauges are glorified idiot lights. Get a ScanGauge ll for $159 or less. Does sound like a stuck t-stat but that's a WAG without the gauges.

 

Yeah I think the t-stat was stuck. On the drive home the temp jumped up to norm after about 15 min.

 

Tow something all day and then see what your temps look like. You need to drive more than 20min to start getting up to operating temp. I wouldnt worry
