With all the new trucks out there now and some with the optional 20" wheels, I would like to know your opinions on the Michelin tires that came with your truck. How do the ride, how do they handle the rain, etc.... Thanks to all
I cruised the Ford Dealer's lot last week and see that Michelin's are coming from the factory on some models. Mine had 18" Continental's on it from the factory which I traded for Michelin LTX M/S thanks to the recall. What a difference in ride quality. They are great in the rain and wear like iron. I had a set of Michelin's on my last Superduty and was very pleased with the tread wear. Did you have a specific question about them or just in general? I think they're worth the price.

I have Continentals on mine. What were the dates on the recall??
The recall covered a few years and my 08 fell right in the middle of it. I know there's info here at FTE or you can go to Continentals website and get the exact series of serial numbers for the affected tires. I won't swear to it but I think most of them were 18's.
I've never had a bad experience with Michelin tires. I just wish they made a more aggressive off road tire.
We recently purchased a '11 F150 Ecoboost and it came with Michelin tires. The ride was very very nice. Not sure if it's the truck, tires or both. We were planning on using that truck to tow an RV over the 4th of July weekend but that fell through so I have no clue how they handle with a trailer in tow. Based on past experience with the brand, I would expect them to perform well on Super Duty trucks also.
i have run over 8 consecutive sets of BFG A/T and M/T radials over the years on severalrigs from old f250's to broncos, my wifes nissan Xterra, and a K2500 Suburban. GREAT luck with these tires.
However, i have talked to several tire guys and a few friends that say Michilens are in fact worth EVERY penny and wear like iron.
I gotta tell ya, im seriously thinking about a switch...On some stuff, you do get what you pay for
I don't have a specific question but I am looking to replace my Nitto Dura Grapplers. I would like a more aggressive tread pattern without the tread squirm that my Nitto Terra Grapplers had, very scarey. I just need something that can handle weight and last at least 40,000 miles.
I have a set of Michelin LTX M/S on my F450 Class C motorhome. They ride terrific and even though they are not that aggressive, they will get you out of some sloppy stuff. I had the Bronco on the trailer and got into some mud. Gave it some gas and she pulled thru it.
I have had 2 sets on my Explorer. Got 110,000 miles out of the first set, daughter wrecked the truck with only about 10,000 on the new set.
Looking to put Michelins on the Excursion when I finally wear out the Coopers that came on the Ex.
Update: I been doing a lot of research and I decided to go with Toyo Open Country MT. Last Thursday I had them installed and I have about 200 miles on them. The verdict, These tires are not good for me, the truck is too heavy to have a mud tire, too much squirm. In doing my research, others who tow heavy do not seem to have a problem with the weight, but when you carry 2k and tow heavy, it is not a good combo. So now the tire store is working with me to get another set of tires. I think I am pretty much stuck with them, live and learn I guess.
I've been using Michelin on my vehicles for 20 years, but lately our cars drive less and the 60,000 miles thread on the tires would age before wear out.
They do have long lasting threads, but nothing is free. The hard rubber offers less traction and I notice the difference after purchasing Firehawks for our sedan on the first trip sking.
Firestone couple years ago had 50% off sale, so that was excellent deal for me.
On my Superduty I did have Hancock and they had thread lasting forever. Yet couple of them blew on me with still legal thread, what I blame on the age.
Bottom line -IMHO the Michelins and other long lasting tires make sense for people putting more than 20k annually, but there are other alternatives.
BTW Michelin makes Hydro tires with 90,000 thread warranty. Good reviews.
Currently have Michelins on Expy and two Chev Trailblazers. That is all that I buy any longer. They will dry rot before the tread ever comes close to wearing out. I end up swapping them out after 5-6 years with plenty of tread left. Keep them properly inflated and rotated, should go over 60,000 miles easy
I have customers who use Michelin tires on their trucks, and they ride very good, and wear very well. I would have them myself if they offered something more aggressive.
These tires have got to go. After towing again today I realize that I have to bite the bullet and get different brand of tire. The manager at the tire store said they cannot do anything for me, however if I can find someone who wants the Toyo's and I buy new tires there, they will re-mount and re-balance the Toyo's for free. I think that's pretty nice of them considering I special ordered the tires. Tires are 275-65-20 in case I didn't mention that earlier
