I had the Conti tires replaced as part of the recent recall and have been back to the dealer several times thinking we had a balance issue. The dealer has rebalanced several times and now has replaced all 4 tires again. The truck drives like the tires are WAY over inflated, yet they are not. They are right where the original Conti's were (65 front, 75 back). I run them this way for towing purposes. I feel every bump and crack in the road through the steering wheel, the steering wheel shimmies at about 65 mph and in general feels real light in the front end, like I said almost as if the tires have too much air in them. The dealer is going to swap all 4 wheel/tires for another 08 on the lot to see if this makes a difference tomorrow. They are wondering if perhaps Continental changed something in the sidewall, hence stiffening the tire to the point that it gives this lousy ride?
Has anyone experienced this yet with the new Continentals? (Please refrain from commenting on Continentals themselves as being no good - I have read all the posts and know that a lot of people don't like them). But 4 free tires is still 4 for free tires....except if they are going to make my truck ride like junk.
Mine is booked to have them changed on Thursday in Edmonton. Right afterwards I will be driving home 300 miles so I will let you know Thursday night or Friday morning.
They were on some 08 and 09 trucks, there are a couple of threads here on the subject. If you want just go to Continental's web site and they have a list of effected tires. To get the numbers off of your tires you need to look on the inside sidewall to get the last four digits. BTW the last four digits are the month and year of manufacture.
As for the tires on my truck I have had no issues with them and they have been wearing evenly.
