I just bought a wrecked 97 F250 HD with the Powerstroke/4 speed auto trans. It is 2 wheel drive extra cab short bed....I am using the engine & trans to re power my 89 F350 dually flatbed that has a very tired 7.3 diesel...I am trying to figure out the gear ratio in the 97 F250... The code tag on the rear end is as follows:
No, I really want to swap out the 4.10 in the F350 for a set of 3.55 gears though.....I don't do any towing...am planning on over the road open freeway driving delivering parts back & forth from CA to AZ once a week....I carry from 1,000 to 2,500 lbs on the 12 foot flatbed....figure, the truck will have a big HP increase with the Powerstroke over the old 7.3 non turbo....and with the price of fuel....better milage won't hurt my feelings....I drive light on the throttle so the higher gears will be ok.... so once I'm done pirating the motor & trans, computer, etc, I'll sell off the rear end out of the F250...
