Question ND!!! Help Please!

I'm hoping cracker will part with his spare column ( if it is doable ) but in the meantime I have been researching the parts and the mechanic gave me a list of the parts I need and also parts that would be good to replace.

Numbers Dummy, Any idea on where I can get these parts? I know LMC has a couple of them but I want to get them all if possible. I got the info on the Fordification site.

Used columnn

I just got a call from a vendor ( BASIC CAR PARTS. COM ) with a quote for a used Steering column for $150.00.

In my research on this problem I saw somewhere that it mattered what gearbox you had ie. saginaw or bendix. The guy said his info shows the same column for use with either? He siad he would double check.

Anyone know the "for sure" skinny on this?

The Bendix p/s box is very close in physical size to the manual box and the saginaw is longer. Therefore the difference is a shorter length for the saginaw column. All the parts you're looking for will fit either column. Most are also common to other Ford columns of the same era so you should be able to find them at the Mustang and other Ford supply houses. If anyone can direct you to a supply, Bill can.

Thanks Mike. You made me remember a place right down the road that I can likely get most of what I need. A place called Mustang's Unlimited. I'll give it a shot today.

Column, Gear Shift Lever Pin - Automatic Transmission Part # 357479-S
Cannot I.D.: Part # 354590-S

Thanks, Todd.
What year is this truck? Correct your "About Me" profile as it sez Buick Century.

Some of these parts are still available from Ford, at least one has been repro'd, some of these numbers are suspect, one was wrong...since corrected.

The Ford replacement D5TZ-7228-A shift collar KIT (still available from Ford also fits 1973/77's) has a separate plastic pointer (D3TZ-7A110-A-comes w/the KIT) that slides into a slot in the collar.

1965/72 original: The metal pointer is made as part of the collar.

Next time you make a list like this, just type the Ford part numbers, I don't need the descriptions. When I respond to this, I'm gonna eliminate all this fall-der-all...cuz it's a PITA to respond to the way you posted it.

Didn't see this thread until just now, was on vacation 7/21-8/7 (had no internet access, didn't want any either!).

It's taken me most of this week just to "play catch-up" to all the questions in the 1961/66 forum, plus I received a gazillion P/M's I had to respond to.
