Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info.

What's wrong with the column? F100, F250 or? 2WD or 4WD? 3 M/T, 4 M/T or A/T?

When I know the answers to these questions, will post the parts catalog pic of the column, what the usual 'wear' parts are and where the parts can be found.

SorryND. The column is in fare shape but never been rebuilt. I'm in the process of rebuilding my steering box and figured why not. I've been slowly rebuilding the truck one part at a time.

Veh is 2wd, 64 F100, 292 w/ 3 on the tree.

1964 F100 2WD (), 292 w/3 M/T
Pic actually represents 1965/70 F100/250 2WD. 1964 F100/250 2WD is slightly different inre to upper/lower bearings/sleeves location. 1971/72's have 2 spoke steering wheels.

Basic part numbers only shown in Illustration Section. Text section required to get complete part number...which I'll list if asked.

Upper/lower bearings (3517) and nylon sleeves (3518) available from Ford.

Shift tube (7212), 3 M/T shift lever (7210), shift collar (7228), selector lever bushings (7343) at bottom of column, inserts, spring in shift lever (7B215 / 7208) available NOS

Other parts may be available NOS or repro'd.

Just a word of caution when messing around with a steering column. I haven't taken mine apart, so I haven't been in there yet, so keep that in mind. My right front turn signal doesn't work, and I traced down the problem. It appears that some wires from the turn signal that go through the column and the one for the right front is open (an broken wire) in the column and that is the cause of the non working signal. Not something easilt fixed without disassembling the column. The caution is that wires could look fine, but after wiggling them around, check for opens that may not be visible before reassembling them, particularly original wires.

ND - regarding this sketch, is the assembly order the same for my 64? I'm also having difficulty locating some of the parts. The was a large rubber bushing inserted at the base of my column, a small tapered rubber bushing inserted on the bottom of the steering shaft inside the column tube and my shift linkage did not have plastic spacers like displayed in the sketch. Only had a steel C spacer between the linkage. There are photos of the items I'm my album. Any help is appreciated.

Ok for those interested I located the large bushing at the base of the column from CJ's Rod and Machine. Little pricy but I called everyone with no luck.

Anyone have a blow up view of a 64 steering column, not 65-66?

Man thanks! You happen to have the parts nomenclature list? I'm trying to put this thing back together and didn't take enough notes in the disassembly process.

What do you mean the parts nomenclature list? This is just about as good as it gets for Ford stuff, as far as I know. I did my column, and it went pretty easy based upon the first diagram posted. I actually don't know of any better diagram.
