I drive a 1991 Ford F250 Custom 5.0L V8 Automatic 2wd, regular cab. For as long as I have owned the truck the ignition switch has always stuck a little when starting (usually a little worse in cold weather). But here in the last couple of days it has gotten much much worse. Now, when you turn the switch on you can get all the way to RUN and then no further, its locked and won't go on to start the truck. I figure now that I need to replace the key cylinder lock, and that's where the problem comes in.
I have been reading the posts about the switches and actuator rod over and over and over....but when I go to find the lock pin for the cylinder release...its nowhere to be found in the areas described. Why is it different from all the others and can anyone tell me where I need to go? Or might anyone have a diagram of that specific design for me to follow?
Thank you anyone and everyone for any help that can be given.
The pin's location is circled in the red. You have to have your key turned to the run position I believe or else the pin will not be able to be pushed in allowing the lock cylinder to be removed.
Probably a case of confusion where the OP didn't know where to post at the time. Rare but it happens....lol. Doesn't look like he's been back since posting that either....hmmm.
