this may be a stupid question but how do i put the new key cylinder into the housing of the ignition switch it looks like it should just slide and lock right in but that doesnt seem to be the case on a 76 f250

I believe the key has to be in the cylinder so when you slide it in the housing you turn the cylinder with the key and it should lock in.

Are you putting it in upside down? The pin hole is to the top.

If you are trying to put it in then I presume you know the button needs to be depressed on the new key cylinder and turned to the accessory position before it will fit in the ignition switch properly right?
