Brake Pedal?

Ive got a 74 f100 4x4 it had drum brakes, I converted it to disc brakes and 8 lug front and rear with the drums still in rear. Im using all 79 f250 parts, my question is my brake pedal the rod for the booster isnt long enough? Ive tried turning or lengthing the rod,is the rod adjustable or do I need a new pedal? Or can I lengthen the rod myself?

If you are using your 74 booster you probably need the 74 pedal as well to make it match up.

Im using a 79 f250 brake booster, calipers and lines. But still have the orginal 74 brake pedal? I probably have to have a 79 pedal correct?

I converted a 79 with an automatic to a 4 spd using a setup from a 74 f-350.. I did not change boosters but I do remember needing to change the pedal assembly mount, ( the part the pedals, booster and column attach to behind the dash) and reposition the pin for the rod going to the booster but that was to raise the pedal so they were both even. I used the 74 pedals, rod and mount in the 79 and they work just fine..

Ther are over 20 different pedal/booster/linkage combinations for these trucks. Even within the same year they are different, depending on how the truck is optioned. When I swapped my '78 Bronco from auto to 4 speed I ended up having to modify my column brcket to accept the clutch pedal I needed in spite of the fact that I had a dozen '73 to '79 parts trucks to pick from! Not one of them had the right combination of parts to just bolt together! If you went from a booster that takes the rod straight from the pedal to one that has that hinged linkage between the two (or vise versa), you may need a different length rod. If possible, try to get the parts from the same truck that donated the booster. That way you know they will work together. Otherwise tou will just have to keep looking for the right parts. Sounds like wdfp got lucky with his. I would advise against lengthening your own brake rod. These ARE your brakes we are talking about. Imagine the possible consequences if you don't get it right. Safety first.

I bought all the parts new, the rod from the booster went straight to the pedal with a shoulder bolt (that was the orginal setup). With the 79 booster the pedal is all the way to the floor for it to hook up. So do I need just a new rod for the booster or a pedal, Ive never saw a 79 brake pedal setup?
