I agree that the Clifford stuff is over-priced. The cam grind is a bit special that I haven't seen anywhere else. My Isky 256 cam with 1.7 rockers about equaled his cam, but with a tad more duration. Ever since I read about the guy on Fordsix whose new Cliff cam kept shredding his bearings in no time, I have been VERY skeptical of Cliff's products. It turned out the journals had not been polished and were shredding the bearings like a cheese grater. Also, their return policy is poor; So I have read. I also found it interesting that although they call it a 264 duration cam, @ .050" the Comp 260 actually has more duration, by ten degrees!
One note about the Cliff headers: He is the only one I have seen with 1 5/8" tubes.
I think $400 for an intake is ridiculous! But if they are the only ones making the multi-carb intakes then I guess they can set their own prices.
I won't buy anything internal for the engine from them. And you can contact other cam companies and have a cam ground to whatever spec you want, if they don't offer what you want.
I bought a pair of headers from them quite a few years ago. I was not impressed with the quality or how they fit.
For my stock engine I'm going with Hedman headers. I've had good luck with them on 240/300. I'm just really hoping their 89300's fit my 78 F150 4x4. They say for 2wd but I can't see why they wouldn't work on the 4x4's. There's no cross member for them to hit except the transmission X-member.
When I get my high compression engine done I'm going to build my own large tube headers.
the header will send one pipe into the edit: crossmember and transfer case: but any custom exhaust shop can fix it easy
Thanks for the info. That won't be a problem then.
I'm building my own system. I don't trust anyone else to work on my vehicles. I'm just going to buy some straight pipes and some mandrel bent U-bends. Oh yea and I can't forget about the Hooker Aero-Chamber mufflers.
