Yeah, he had a auto and was useing it. I know the kid i bought it from...but not that well if you no what i mean. I never accually saw it in his truck. so idk if he was lieing or what but if it was infact in his truck, can this chip even work for mine? considering i have a manual? haha the copper is mostly on the back side...
* Last night i got the chip hooked up (with out cleaning the terminals) and the truck started up fine. But the truck ran like it did with out the chip...there was no difference in power or anything.
*Today....i unistalled the chip and cleaned the terminals....i hooked the chip back up and the truck wont start. It just turns over and over and it has the check engine light on as well.
* i bout the chip yesterday...the guy i bought it off says he had it in his truck (wich is a auto trans...?) He said the guy he bought it from had a manual trans...? If this guy did infact have the chip in his auto...am i just wasting my time installing it? since i have a manual..?
** I have not tried unplugging the switch plug and seeing if its plugged in upside down...i think it is plugged in right thouggh
The remote switch comes off the chip and can be installed incorrectly it is I'm portent that you study the instructions on the web site very carefully and make sure it is correctly oriented or it may not run, hope this helps
Jim...& fat Monty
Got your pic via email probably not worth posting. I'll send a message to Cody @ PHP. He is a good guy and sure he can help you out. Just need to find a thread he posted in..lol..stay tuned
i honostly think the main problem is i think the chip is for a automatic. like i said when i take the chip out my truck runs fine..
They might be able to reprogram it. I sent Cody a message. They can beef up a stock tune a bit and wake the truck up a bit. Let's see what Cody has to say. They are the pro's
* Last night i got the chip hooked up (with out cleaning the terminals) and the truck started up fine. But the truck ran like it did with out the chip...there was no difference in power or anything. Yeah, because there was NO CONTACT between the chip terminals and the terminals on the circuit board. No surprise there.
*Today....i unistalled the chip and cleaned the terminals....i hooked the chip back up and the truck wont start. It just turns over and over and it has the check engine light on as well. Either you still have INCOMPLETE contact with all of the terminals (read: silicone inside the chip connector from the initial install that involved ALL of the silicone still on the PCM circuit board) OR you have a chip that is for the incorrect PCM family OR you fried the chip and miraculously the PCM was spared. At this point, DO NOT install the chip again. You could end up looking for a new PCM.....
* i bout the chip yesterday...the guy i bought it off says he had it in his truck (wich is a auto trans...?) He said the guy he bought it from had a manual trans...? If this guy did infact have the chip in his auto...am i just wasting my time installing it? since i have a manual..? Typically if you have a chip for an auto, it will still work in a manual BUT ONLY if the PCM hardware codes are compatible. Say yours is a DPC-421 family and the auto it was off of is a DPC-422....the chip would work fine albeit with a check engine light.
** I have not tried unplugging the switch plug and seeing if its plugged in upside down...i think it is plugged in right thouggh Don't even worry about it at this point as I think you have either the wrong chip code or have a fried chip.
I think you're out of luck on that one. I think that either you were sold a chip that won't work with your truck the way it is OR you were sold a fried chip OR you fried it by incorrectly installing it initially. Pardon my crappy grammar in this post. I was just trying to make an emphasis on the "OR" parts of the post as there's no way to know for sure what has been done here.
