Did you clean the terminals exactly as the instructions said? That's the easiest mistake to make on installinng the worlds easiest to install chip! Some times you have to do two runs with the scotch pad to get the coating off and don't forget both sides! Hope this helps.

I have the ts performance chip. like hotroddsl said, you have to scrub the varnish off those little posts on your ecm very very good. I made a mistake installing mine. My mistake was that the chip only hangs on my the "squeeze" pressure of the terminal ends. so when i was finishing pulling my long black cable up into the dash. I accidentally pulled a tich too hard and popped it off of my ecm.

sounds like the switch cable is not plugged in correctly & it's running on the stock tune.
if the contacts weren't clean I doubt it would run at all

Like others said sounds like the contacts may not be all the way clean. Here are the instructions from the php website: Cleaning the J3 Connector on the PCM. - Power Hungry Performance Forum

I have found standard electronic industry solvents like 1,1,3, triflurotriclroethane removes the silicone with lillle to no effort, MEK (methyl ethyl keytone ) works with a light scrubbing! Hope this helps.

Are they both manual transmissions? If you over clean the contact you'll see copper and this will cause the chip not to make good contact.

my friends truck is a auto but the guy he got it froms truck was a manual. mines a manual too.....ya i cleaned to much i think i can see copper on the back side of the termonal. I can see a little copper on the front too. I dont get it.....before i cleaned, i had the chip fully hooked up and it started and ran fine. But it just seemed like it wasnt on.....no difference in power at all. Now the truck wont start it just turns over and over with the check engine light on..... god dang it!!!

I don't see how your friend was using it if it was from a manual transmission. Can you post a pic of the contacts? You may have to re tin it like I posted above. A little copper on the end is probably ok but all the way through would probably cause a problem.

Don't forget, its the contacts on the ECM that needs the scraping not the contacts on the chip. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
