I installed the new Motorcraft glowplugs and for the 2 starts it worked perfectly with the wts light but today (third time starting) wts light instantly goes out and I hear clickclick, clickclick.,etc. but then I look at the volt gauge and from what I see no amps are being drawn from the batteries when their clicking, then I have to turn it over for a good 15secs. Not only that but yesterday I was driving to discover that the brake light comes on when I come to a stop the brake pedal has always been a little spongy, I took the truck to a brake shop they worked on it, replaced master cylinder and still the spongy brakes are there. They could not find a solution
The click click click is the controller, idk how there is no power draw on the battaries when the controller is clicking, i am pretty sure it uses power
from the battaries to run. You may have a bad controller or relay, i would test the glow plugs to see if any of them were lemons for the heck of it .
I'll take a look at it when it cools down, normally I have our company mechanic work on it in the drive way, I'm not going to that brake shop again lol.
What info would you like?
Has 120k miles runs strong (once it fires)
ask for the 86 ford glow plug relay so they don't try to sell you the whole controller for over 130bucks. Asking for the 86 gets you the relay and i sounds like thats all you need
