So I first noticed my aftermarket trans temp gauge was jumping around and showing me real low temp and then it would work. Tonight when was pulling into my garage the truck was shifting out of first and second when I was just idling into my garage. It felt like it was in third gear. I have noticed that it's been shifting real hard the last couple days. What do guys think. I was reading somewhere that it could be a sending unit sensor. There is no check lights on or tow mode light on. Also there is 86000 miles And trans fluid was changed at 40000. No mods.
What year truck, what mods, what fluids and what filters are you running. All pertinent including service interval. You gave very little info to go by.
So I talked to ford yesterday and they told me it's not the selinoid and that it's within in the trans. They said won't know more unless they drop the trans and pick through it or they said I should just put a new rebuild in a cost of 3950.
What do you guys think.
The trans isn't that bad. It's a delay when I shift into reverse and shifts into 5 th a lil hard.
Recalls never expire. There was never a recall of this transmission.
There was a Customer Satisfaction Program for the reverse clutch snap ring for some 2005 model year trucks. They only covered it if the truck had the snow plow package, and I believe it has expired by now.

If you're handy with tools you can buy and install the transmission yourself for quite a bit less--usually about $2600. It comes with a new torque convertor, trans cooler, and a 3 year warranty. If if goes out after that you take it to Ford and they will fix and/or replace it at no cost to you as long as it was installed correctly.

After I did my transmission not to long ago, I called Ford to complain about the shifting, they pointed the finger to the place that installed it....
I made sure to ask if ANYONE installs it will the warranty still be covered, they said YES. I believe I asked them about 3 times.
Then I got kinda mad, and told them all they did was take the old one out and put the new one it with some other words said
They told me they could get it in 3 weeks from that date, I left it alone, and it seems to be alright now...still could be better IMHO.
Just my story. NOTHING against anyone or anybody. The service guy coulda been having a bad day who knows.
