After I did my transmission not to long ago, I called Ford to complain about the shifting, they pointed the finger to the place that installed it....
I made sure to ask if ANYONE installs it will the warranty still be covered, they said YES. I believe I asked them about 3 times.
Then I got kinda mad, and told them all they did was take the old one out and put the new one it with some other words said
They told me they could get it in 3 weeks from that date, I left it alone, and it seems to be alright now...still could be better IMHO.
Just my story. NOTHING against anyone or anybody. The service guy coulda been having a bad day who knows.
Sorry just venting, just be sure whats going on.
That's a bunch of crap Tyler. I don't see how you can install shifting incorrectly--LOL. FORD wants the dealers to fix them not anyone else. I'd have complained to Ford customer care just to stir the pot a little.

What I did or said was crap? Or what they did?
Ford has been actually good to me, so im not trying to ruin it yet, lol
The only external sensors are the turbine speed and output speed sensors. They are on the top of the transmission. It could also be the wiring harness on the passenger's side of the trans. A poorly seated connector or bad pin could cause shift concerns.

What they did, not what you said--LOL.
I will agree with Mark about the connector at the transmission though. I saw bent pin at the transmission harness connector cause a LOT of issues that would come and go. Transmission would go into limp mode and would have to be shut down completely and on restart run normally. It was very very very difficult to even see the offending pin that got bent but that's all it took to drive the trans. absolutely crazy. I'm not sure that's YOUR issue but it can happen.
So I got the truck back from the stealership. Now they tell me that there other tech feels that it's probably the mechatronics and that it could cost in-between 1500-2000 dollars. But that I am still better off with a new trans.
By the way there are only 86000 miles on it, and I usually am only towing a snow mobile trailer. What do you guys think.
What year truck, what mods, what fluids and what filters are you running. All pertinent including service interval. You gave very little info to go by.
Have you ever said which yr, model, etc. as asked ????
Is it the 5 speed auto or the 4 speed ?
One suggestion for the torqueshift could be damaging to the earlier tranny !!!
If the 5 speed, this is the first one I've heard had an issue that a tuner like the edge didn't cause !!!
Now the old 4 speed like in my 02 --- they went out with regularity
I was getting the OD light flashing, occasionally. When it would trip and stay on solid my truck would lose 1st gear and would shift hard. Slam into reverse. i kept getting the VSS codes, replaced the sensor on the trans. Would continure to have issue. I kept taking it to the dealer (about 4 tript) they could not find anything. Mentioned the condition to a buddy in the parts department he says to replace the trans wire harness, and that Ford has been having an issue with them. I could hardly believe it, but I ordered the part and replaced it myself in about an hour, Trans shifted perfectly after that.
Just a little experience, maybe it is something in the harness that is shorted like mine. $80 part to find out is much cheaper than $1200-3900.
