A while back I posted about a 59 F600 bus I was trying to get going after 22 years of sitting.
Well, she is alive!
I rebuilt the carb replaced theplugs and wires and tuned the points. Still would not start even on ether. (Yes I know its bad.).
Went to tweak the timing and the distributor bolt was loose. The dang thing only died because the timing was off!
Ran her for a few min and shut her down. Now to flush her out with some synthetic oil and then a fresh change of rotella. tune her up and away she'll go!
Hey flipklos, nice to see you got her going I remember when you posted that you had found a bus with a y-block, is it a 292? You hardly see any y-block being used in restoration projects anymore, they are so simple to work on.
Flipklos, Good Work! Hopefully I will be so lucky. I'm getting close to working on the '55 station wagon's 272 to see if it will fire. Sitting over 20 years, but with hood on, and still turns over. The Teapot 4V is rebuilt, ready to go.
Now I got to get the hydraulic clutch assy going and run new fuel line. I told the owner that I did not want to mess with the brakes as it is a hydroboost system and on a biger truck. I do not have the equipment to work on MD truck brakes and it would take forever to amoritize the cost of such equipment.
Yes it is a 292. find it funny that the only thing wrong other then the usual rotten wires and plugs was the twisted distributor.
Worked on her today. Got her running time and again but would die after a few minutes. Over and over me and my 9 yearold would do this chasing a gremlin around the engine.
Damn I am an idiot. The stupid hanging gas tank couldent feed fuel to the carb fast enough!!!!!!!!!. Two hours wasted!
Only will pull about 15 on vaccum though. Think the rings are BAD as the oil neck puffs smoke hard. Hope she frees up and seats good.
Will hook up the fuel line and gas tank next week. New fuel pump and clutch MS as it is unrepairable from pits.
