want to lift my 96 250 5spd up 6" on 37's...just a few of my concerns are, not having a solid front axle..will this be an issue? And having a 3:55 rear end? I'd love to make those changes but $ is the issue.
96 ext cab 250 5 spd 6637, 3"dp-5"straight, dp tuner eco and performance tunes
From what I understand if the ttb is set up right 37"s are fine and I wouldn't worry to much about gears my big truck has 3.55 gears and 52" tires yes it's a dog and I aint been out of 3rd gear yet but I can drive it I'm like you cant do a gear change yet so I make do
i have 37 and am getting 20 mpg... my hurt u a tad not sure... dont for get to drob your carrier baring if you have one... 1/4 in drop for every in you go up so 6in lift would be 1 1/2 drop on your bearing...
Depends on how you drive and if you tow much I have found with my big truck and 5 spd it does better when you don't lug it but it will probably go down some if it was all highway miles on flat road could increase but the truck will look so awesome with 37"s you won't care that much about mpg

Has your speedo been recalibarted? If not i think you are getting more
if i have it lifted i wont be doing it myself...wish i could but i will have a shop do it for me...they should know about the drob right? and arkredneck you do better when you dont lug it? at what rpm do you shift? might be my problem...im trying to baby it to much and im running too low rpm in all gears???
My big truck is a different Animal I'm having to rev to 3000 because my gears suck
I'm not an expert but I have noticed when you lug a chipped truck they black smoke out the exhaust which is unburned diesel if you rev them up just a little more the smoke goes away on the trucks I have had
If you have a driveway a few days some plywood and jacks and tools you could do a lift alone I got a gravel driveway and I just plywood it and do trans swaps lifts anything I gotta do I refuse to pay shops unless it's speciality work you can always save money and more pArts
It takes a lot of work I think the floor pan needs modded and I think it's longer and different cross memember and the final drive is about the same just less spacing between gears
ok...speaking of trans swaps..will the newer body style six speed manual trans fit under my truck?
takes a lot of modifying to make it work... was thinking that riught my self...but found out your not really gaining that much with it... i did the 5 speed swap was not bad at all did it out side cause shop was full in oct
