Some diesel drivers (various mfg) claim amazing MPG, IE 20+ MPG. This is backed up by a comparo in one of the Diesel Rags on news stands now. That's great BUT, I just want to know if I'm in the ballpark:
'99 F350 SC 4X4 6spd w/3.73's. 4" lift, 37's, 6637, 4" exhaust, DP 40T, 80E: Regardless of DP tune I select I'm between 13-13.5 around town, 15 max on highway at steady 70 mph. (500 miles round trip at the speed limit to only return 15mpg, I'm speeding from now on!!) Having previously owned a 1/2 ton with a V8 and 35's, I think this MPG is great. Additionally, when I purchased the truck bone stock with the exeption of lift and 33's I got 13 on the hwy at 75 mph, I think I'm doing good.
Is this normal? Are these mileage masters 2WD featherfoots?? I need to know!!!
My 2000 f250 crew cab 4x4 gets 12 in town, 10 in town towing 16"tailer, 16 on interstate(75 mph), and 18 on 60mph hwy. All stock except 4" turbo cack exhaust and 6637.
I am pulling 22+ since I put in the 80E PCM two weekends ago, 65% highway @ 65mph, rest around town..
I reset it when I got on the highway for the first time, I swear I was pulling 26+ mpg, full tank of gas, 65mph on cruise control... Will attempt this again sometime soon, kinda hard to get on a highway around here without sitting in traffic. That 22mpg I have now included 2 hours sitting in Friday afternoon traffic last week!

How in the Hell did I miss this post? I have a pal with a Dodge and his lie-o-meter gives him 30+ mpg and he swears it's correct. Course he will not hand calculate, he prefers his fools paradise and his woman falls for it, so I guess that's all that matters.

You do know that those tall tires are going to throw you off as much as 10% on your actual mileage reading and speed unless you have it recalibrated, right?
I noticed a 1.5 mpg gain, going from 70mph, to 60 mph. Yea the interstate is a 65, and people pass me, but whatever. 16.5 In a 9k pound truck, is pretty impressive if you ask me. Rarely am I in such a hurry that I need to go 70. The difference between 60, and 70, is about 10 minutes per 60 miles. Not too bad.
I drive a combo of city and hwy and if I keep it below 2grand running up through the gears and don't go over 62 mph I get between 16 - 17 mph . For a 4x4 dually with 4:10 I don't think thats to bad.

And that's the name of this game. Just think if you had 3.73's.

The last 4 hand calculated fill ups have been 1 mpg off to my benefit, so yes it is off a little (forgot that) also don't know if the new PCM is throwing the readout off any, I am still not through my first tank with the new PCM, I am just going off the readout and prior hand calculation..
my tires are stock
edit: pre 80E pcm I was averaging 16 mpg with 60% highway miles per tank with just the intake done, did the exhaust one weekend and PCM next
when I finish off this tank I will know for sure, surprised the hell out of me as well
and 18-22 pulling camper, but its a pull behind bumper camper.
its 4x4..
I dont drive the crap out of it...
this is hand calculated and has been many, many, many times.
When I was playing around with hydrogen, I averaged 25!
Even with hydrogen, I only averaged 30 one trip, and that was with the wind behind me the whole way...
I usually get 15mpg mixed empty, One I have gotten almost 20mpg doing 50 mph on some back highways. Towing the 5ther I typically get between 10 and 11 mpg going 60-65.
