Hey guys,
So this is just a really small problem. The truck shifts fine as far as I can tell, but my OD light on the shifter never comes on when i turn of the OD. I think it's a burned out light, but I have also read on here that it could be a wiring short and I'm afraid that would lead to more problems down the road with shifting, etc. So how can I test the light to see if it is burned out without buying a new assembly?
Thanks in advance
Ok, so I did some 'exploratory surgery' and found that the switch is getting power on all the hookups, leaving me convinced that it is only the light. I also did a test drive after putting it back and confirmed that the switch does still work on the OD, just doesn't light up. So...guess i'll be on the look out for a new switch with a working light.
I got that led replace once, to open it up you just need to pull the crown in the lever around the O/D button, then slide the plastic piece that reads "O/D OFF" then you can pull out the plastic ring holding the led. If you're crafty enough, you could just replace the led, if you want the OEM way, buy the plastic ring/led assembly and replace it (it's fairly cheap anyway, around $15).
Yeah, I pulled it and studied the switch/light for a while and I think just switching the LED would be a real pain. So whenever i get to it i'll put a new one in. But it's lower on my priority list.
