What size injectors could a modified 68mm Powermax turbo handle if it says it can handle up to 600rwhp? I guess you'll also need to take into account I would be using Matt's SRL++ tune a decent bit because I'll be getting studs and gaskets done at the same time if I do all of this. The reason I ask is because River City Diesel sells a kit that comes with a modified 68mm turbo and 180cc injectors and an Airdog II kit. But I started looking around and I can get their modified turbo, a little bit bigger injectors, and the Airdog kit and still come out way cheaper if I send my injectors in rather than get one of their "NEW" reman. sets.
Which brings me to my next question. What is the disadvantage of sending my injectors in to be modified rather than getting one of their "NEW" reman. sets...assuming I don't mind the down time of not being able to drive my truck?
Also, on Powermax's website it says that it can handle an additional 175hp over stock. But does that mean that it can handle an additional 175 over stock engine output, or that it can handle an additional 175 over what the stock turbo can handle? Because if it's just 175 over stock engine output, that means it's dead at 500hp, which isn't too entirely hard to accomplish. People run tuners pushing close to that on the stock turbo.
andy what is your goal with the truck.. are you every gonna pull a trailer and if so how big?
My goal is just to have a beastly truck. I don't ever pull and don't really plan on it. I do occasionally pull my friends tractor which is only like 6K. I'd rather have a quick truck but at the same time I wanna have the option to pull when I want. It's my daily driver right now but it won't be for too much longer.
DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT SEND YOUR INJECTORS TO RCD!!! send them to warren diesel. jess is great over there and super fast and done right! seen way to many people get screwed at RCD and one being my best friend. i would just do 190cc and a regular powermax turbo. you will be plenty impressed with it. also do a ITP regulated return kit
andy you can once again do what you want with the advise and I garenty its worth what you are paying for it.
155 and a powermax is all you really need. And this is what I personaly would run if I was inclinded to spend money. yes you can go to 225cc's and a buch of junk but the headach involved is not worth it. remeber the more you play the more you pay.
I good mild truck is wirth far more then one that gives nothing but problems.
I wouldn't tow anything at all with more then 190s. I personally am running Casserly's (Full Force and highly recommend them) 155s and a 64mm non-vgt turbo. That got me 508 at the rear wheels on Matt's dyno.
I would actually suggest not going above 175s for towing, although, there are plenty that have gone higher.
Anything over 190s though is going to be wasted on the street. Your RPM range is going to be too high to be realistic for the street.
Ok. I'm thinking for what little towing I do i would be ok with 175s. I pull my friend's tractor maybe once every couple months and it weighs maybe 8k trailer and all. Other than that it's totally a daily driver.

Can you run this regulated return kit on top of the Airdog II kit or is the Airdog even worth getting?
you can run the RR with the airdog II but its tricky to get the pressure to work out just right. its worth the ADII if your getting injectors. it supplies plenty of fuel to them and the RR keeps the back injectors from "drying out"

You have to run the pressure on the regulated return just a few psi below the air dog. That way the air dog will still have a return on it and not work the pump to death.
