Ok guys, no disrespect because y'all have been extremely helpful, but this was turning out to be a good thread until it turned in to an argument over who can machine the heads and who can't and what reasons the dealerships do things the way they do. Let's try and keep this thread focused on either turbos, injectors, studs, or fuel systems. Thanks.

hahahaha yea....

me bad.....

no argument....just discussion....hey if everyone agreed we would all be running a banks chip....

the shops around here are I would say normal sized 15-20 lift bays....with 10+ mechanics...each mechanic is assigned to 1-2 lifts....its a kick in the nuts when a lift is tied up for no reason for a couple days....I know...I have worked at a dealership doing small stuff during high school and my dad has been a ford tech for almost 30 years.

Yea, that is small. In that case I would agree with you. Just the diesel shop portion of one of the places around here has about 25 lifts and probably close to 15 or 20 mechanics in that shop as well. I don't know the stats for the shop for the rest of the vehicles as I haven't been in there, but it's about the size of 1 of the diesel "barns", so I would probably say that one alone is closer to your normal specs.

Now, I should mention that there are a lot of fleet diesels around here, I mean a lot, I didn't realize just how many as the specs for their diesel shop are mimicked by at least Dodge (at least when I had one, they have moved since then, but it was to a bigger facility).

Yea it was a really good thread just skimmed over the last 3 pages. but the first three were great. I just left our diesel shop my heads has some microscopic cracks around a couple of the exhaust valve ports after a day of contemplation on what I was going to do I have decided to have my heads re surfaced and give them another shot. Has anyone had any luck smoothing out the exhaust ports or the manifold to help get the hot exhaust out faster? I am just thinking about lowering egts and keeping the micro cracks from getting bigger or other ones from popping up

sure it wont hurt a thing....smooth out the bend will make the pressure flow to the turbo easier and in theory faster...which you are right it should have lower egt's...how much I have no idea....if you do grind out some of the exhaust ports stay away from the guide and valve seat....if you hit the seat it wont seal....and if you grind on the valve guide it will reduce life of the valve itself...... but a minor casting cleanup would be good!!!!!

Full Force Diesel fan myself. Although I should add that Casserly is local to me, so that could be one reason for that. But service and quality of work are great.

So should we get a list of whose injectors are good quality and who to stay away from (with a reason why of course)?

I have heard nothing but really good stuff about full force diesel injectors. When I do mine that is the only one I will consider. I have heard a lot of bad stuff about RCD injectors.

Modified 6.0 injectors can be heaven or hell. There's a huge variation in quality control from different vendors. Casserly is at the top of a very short list.

Casserly is the ONLY one on my list. Period. NO ONE has better customer service or better 6.0 injectors.

here's my short list from best to worst...

Casserly's-excellent track record, cust service, very tight tolerances on their mfg.
Ford OEM which I believe are casserly's not too sure....
Elite diesel- nice 8 hole injectors I havent heard anything bad....
Full force - same as elite nothin' bad...
Ebay- can be decent but watch out for junk
Junkyard- well its probably already got 100+k on them....
RCD- poor cust. service, re-polished injectors that should not be on the road. quality control is not there at all....sometimes you might get lucky....more often you wont....btw I would rather walk than pay for RCD injectors.

IMHO of course.....

Full Force and Casserly are one and the same. Casserly owns Full Force.

To my knowledge all a/m injectors are modified OEM injectors. I don't know anyone yet that uses totally a/m injectors, that might have changed as I haven't shopped around for a/m injectors, so I haven't kept on with that little tidbit.
