Question Fuel Quality

I live in the Carolinas. My '06 truck has traditionally gotten about 15.4 MPG in the summers and 14.4 MPG running on the winter blends in our area. As far as maintenance goes, I do all regular PM work and changed the plugs in February (which seemed to increase fuel mileage slightly). Driving habits are identical as before. For some reason, I am now running about 14.3 MPG in the summer. Any idea if they are using a higher percentage of Ethanol iwith the higher prices?

Do you use the same filling station everytime? I've found that here in Richmond, the Wawa/Sheetz fuels are not as friendly to my truck as the BP and Exxon stations. The BP and Exxon here are owned by the same family, and I'm under the impression they take deliveries from the same factories for their multiple locations...so the blends should be close to the same from one location to the next.
I cannot speak towards the Wawa/Sheetz though.

As far as the ethanol content, some stations are going from E10 to E15 now. That 5% will affect things.

Any chance the the LTX M/S2s are slightly heavier than the Goodyears you got rid of? I got lucky and my previous tires were exactly the same weight as my M/S2s so no change in rotational weight there.

In Charlotte area. Do not use exclusive gas station, but tend to use Kangaroo fairly consistantly. I got the A/T2s at Christmas, and have had better gas mileage since then, in the winter, than I have now. Also changed plugs since then and had better MPG. as far as tire weight goes, I doubt the M/S2s weigh more than the GY S/As; they were pretty heavy.

A wider coverage area for myself, I drive 4k plus per month covering PA,WV, OH, KY in a company SVU ( Ford Escape) I stick with BP Exon and Shell. they equal 24.8MPG on average

Citgo, Sheetz Wawa Getgo plus a few others equal 21.8MPG sometimes less.

Best gas/MPG is in KY for some unknow reason

My F150 gets better MPG from the Shell then the others

Just 2 cents from farther North

My neighbor is a truck driver for PENN tank lines. He told me that "all" gas station trucks fill their tankers from the same gas ports that he does. The detergant and additives are added when the tankers deliver the gas to the customers.
