It's not hard at all really the biggest thing for most to get over is cutting the holes in the roof, you can go with OEM lights relatively cheap and OEM harness for around $100 I believe. Clay sells the Recon versions as well Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: - Cab Roof Lights although they are not Made in the USA they are decent quality, I installed the Dodge smoked lights on mine. If you search you should be able to find a few write ups for templates, I believe Greg (gchavez) has a nice template file.
It's not hard at all. I did it on my wife's 01 truck. There are a few threads floating around here on how to do it, but basically, lower the front of the headliner, measure the roof about 250 times to be sure, then drill the holes, run the wires, seal it up and you're done. My wife got her recon cab light kit from Clay.
Like said before, not hard. I got my ford set from heller ford parts on eBay. There is two different harnesses but don't worry about that. It is just two wires you can cut the plug off and direct wire in. The hardest part is getting the nerve to drive 15 holes in your perfectly good roof. Under the headliner the cab will have factory holes punched into it to mount the wire harness clips.
The hardest part is working up the nerve to drill the first hole. Do the job sober. Triple check your measurements and before you drill, set the lights on the spots they should be in and visually check that it looks good.
