FICM

Does a new FICM need to be programmed?
Will a new one work out of the box just bolt on & plug in?

So it has to be done/programmed in the vehicle?
Is there any place that pre-programs them prior to install?
I am replacing mine and the vehicle is not near a dealer.
would have to have the Ex towed to the dealer to program? before being able to start/run?
thanks for your help

If you find the 1/2 FICM you dont have to reprogram. The 1/2 containing the program remains while the 1/2 that does the voltage step up is replaced. There is a ford part # for the 1/2 ficm. I bought mine new on flea-bay and it worked perfect.

Hey cheezit...can I program my own FICM with any of the aftermarket tuners out there? Like maybe one of the SCT, Bully Dog, or another brand?

When a FICM is so easy to replace but still costs $1200 from a dealer for replacement and reprogramming, I can easily justify a $350-500 FICM and a $350-500 Tuner to the wife......that is if an aftermarket tuner can program a new or rebuilt FICM.

Talk to Bill @ powerhungryperformance. AFAIK there are no longer any tuners on the market that reflash a FICM. You can also buy preprogrammed FICM's from Swamps that are upgraded.

part# 4c3z12b599BARM

There is the part # for the 1/2 ficm shell. No programming necessary.

You can send to Ed Stefan at FICM Repair.com - Your Source for FICM Repair. He'll repair and upgrade it for much less than the 1/2 shell and his turn around time is very fast but you'll have to take shipping time into account.
