Bad New Module?

Bad New Module?
'90 f150 302. I was having trouble with the truck shuting down when it got hot so I finally went to NAPA and got a new module and stator(i think thats it) and rebuilt the distributor. Well now the problem is worse than ever. Think I could've gotten a bad module? Is there a better brand to buy elsewhere? I put ice on the module while it idled and it never shut off on me so I'm pretty sure that's the issue. Got a buddy bringing over a reader to check codes and such tonight but wanted to know if I should pick up a new unit elsewhere than NAPA, if that's the problem.

Did you use lots of that white grease on the back of the module? Not regular grease, not dielectric grease, but the special heat sink grease that comes with the module? And also, most stores have a tester that can test the module, though it's hard to heat it up like it would in the truck.

Took it back
I took the old one back to NAPA and they replaced it. Also seemed that the numbers were different so maybe got the wrong one to start with. So far it seems to be doing well and shifting better (Think that is from the new TPS). Still has some stumble but hoping that's just the timing cause I messed up and didn't get it back correctly. I replaced the IAC last year but that idle has always hunted at times.
