I have a 98 E350 Club Wagon 15pass with a V10.
I just noticed that the OD light on the shifter is not working. So how can I tell if I'm on OD or not? And is it an easy fix?
Second question. Does the van have drum brakes in the rear? I hope so cause I just bought complete brakes, disc front, drum rear.
Thanks for any help
Eddie
Usually when the OD light doesn't work it is because the wires broke inside the steering column, right where they enter the shifter handle. The easiest way to fix it is to replace the shifter handle. Some people can repair those tiny wires.
Try manually shifting through the gears to get a feel for the shift points . Once you're in 3rd you can play with the O.D. button to get the last shift .
With the 4EOD I shift from 1st to 2nd about 10-15 mph, and 2nd to 3rd about 35-45 mph and overdrive is subjective to what you want your final speed to be.
