'02 Accelerator Pedal Problem when warm?

Have a buddy with an '02 F350, lately when its been getting warm outside, he loses most of his acceleration until the cab temp cools down. It throws a transmission light during this time as well. He took it to a transmission place who said they could recreate the problem by heating the pedal assembly??

Anyone experience this? Make any sense?
