Two weeks ago I got a service engine light on that ended up being a Fuel Injector Control Module problem. I just got it put in on Friday, and the dealership "flashed" it yesterday and I got it today. Went on a quick run (75 miles) and now I'm getting a "Electronic Throttle Control" light indicator on. It looks like an open ended wrench. The manual states that the engine has defaulted to a "limp-home" operation. It's an 2006 6.0 turbo F-350 with 85000 miles. I just put $950.00 into the FICM- what's this going to run me?

Reason: spelling
Can you tell us the specific DTC? How did you decipher the code to mean "Electronic Throttle Control?". That does not sound right.
On edit:
Okay, I see where you got that. It is right out of the owner manual. That just means you have a check engine light, and the truck is in limp mode.
You need to take it back to the dealer to get the specific code and diagnosis.
Now, this is just a wild shot in the dark, but I'm betting they flashed your PCM to the newest logic, which has engine temperature protection built in. Your oil temp is getting too high, and you will need a new oil cooler and EGR cooler. But don't take my word for it, get it checked. Don't ignore it either. The CEL warning is for your protection.
... and would the problem be because of the way it was flashed by the dealership?
No. The problem was there already, but the truck was not programmed to warn you. Now with the new flash, it is. It may be your lucky day that they flashed it for you. Even though it is sure to cost you money.
Just got back from the garage-- the "idiot" light was off when I started out this morning. The code came back "P012F"- Undetected code. My guy at the garage called the Ford dealer, who said- " either drive it for a while and see what happens, or bring it in and get it scanned by our scanner. If it is because of the flashing done yesterday, they'll see what it is, but if it is something new, they'll have to charge me for the scanning." Nice guys!!
I have had a real problem with other issues at the dealership, and I'm at least 1 hour from any other dealership. Looks like I'm driving it a while.

That code is for oil cooler efficiency. The code was assigned only a couple of years ago, and it doesn't show up on many charts or devices. Here is the info that describes the issue: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/fo..._211519_A1.pdf
If you got that code just driving for an hour unloaded, then the problem is serious. Waiting to "see what happens" is bad advice in my opinion. It is normal for that CEL to turn off after the temps have cooled.

bpounds- you hit the nail on the heat. EOT were running 12-15 degrees hotter than it should. Took the truck back to my mechanic- getting oil cooler replaced and while it's there, getting bypass kit on EGR done. What's the old saying, " as long as your're in there...."
What perplexes me is the fact that I've been driving the truck for 3 years and now the problem comes up because of the new flash. You would think that this came up before and Ford would have issued a recall to have the truck checked since the OBD originally on the truck wasn't picking up something as serious as oil temp elevation.
It may have been there for a while. I think the spread is not as bad as when the cooler plugs and fails altogether, if that happened you may/will hydrolock the engine and bend a rod or do other internal damage.
Be happy you caught it now and have the new flash to thank for that. I dont have the newest flash but I do have the Dash Daq to watch everything. When my oil cooler plugged up I had coolant comming out the tail pipe, so how far away from internal engine damage was I? Not sure, but Im glad its fixed.

Sarge is right. The new flash didn't create this problem. The new flash is a new warning to protect your engine, that Ford didn't figure out until a couple of years ago.
If you don't have that warning, and you continue to drive the truck, bad things can happen. Hot exhaust can burn through the EGR cooler. The oil cooler can burst, filling your cooling system with oil. The plastic parts in your oil filter housing can melt, sending bits and pieces throughout your engine.
I know this is costly, but you actually are lucky to have caught it early.
