Did Henry's assembly line workers use that sealer?
No...there wasn't any sealant on the original windshield seals. I don't think that they had anything in 1952 that would handle the stretching and racking of the cab.
Most of the cabs that I've looked at had some evidence of water leaks. A guy at a local classic Mustang shop recommended that sealant to me...he does the same thing on the Mustangs.
That non-hardening sealer can be cleaned off really easily if you ever take out the windshield. It will ruin the gasket, but you'd probably be changing that anyway.
Opening up an old can of worms. My f1 has the tabs that are all rusting, planning to take out the window, remove tabs, clean and replace window. Going to put a new seal on too.
where did we land on sealant? No go on silicon, That CLR Stuff seems good but messy, thoughts on putting nothing between cab and window seal but CLR between window and seal?

I cut the tabs off mine to. Not gonna put any sealant in, Henry didn't. Just gonna clean it real good, get any imperfections straightened out, prime, sand, paint, install, and cross my fingers....lol.
mine's not rusty, just a lot of goo where dad tried stopping leaks from a dried out, and cracked seal.
Just make sure everything is as straight and clean as possible. If it worked straight from the factory, I don't see any reason it won't work now.
Good luck.
