Bought it new in 01 and 523 weeks later saw it roll over 200,000 miles last Friday. I drive it everyday and need to for alot of years to come so hopefully there are many more good miles left in it. Have had no regrets since the day I purchased.
"Old Faithful", (The 2001 F150 I drive to work everyday) has just shy of 270K miles on it now. Still has yet to have a wrench on the drivetrain for a failure or worn out part.
It's not getting replaced until at least 300K miles.

Yes, including the U-Joints. The only parts that have been changed have been front suspension(ball joints, idler arm, etc), a set of rotors, and 2-3 sets of brake pads.

Mine is a 4.6l as well. The service light seems to be intermittent. It will be on 1 day and then I wont see it again for 2. Then the next day there it is again. Truck is still a stud, though.
good to see such great posts!! and to think my 01 just turned 117k!! It uses a very minor amount of oil and I have yet to have to fix the manifold studs!

Go to your nearby big chain parts store. Most will pull codes for free. Write down the codes that show up. This will get you pointed in the right direction.
mine just hit 100k 2 weeks ago (99 F-250LD 5.4) havent had any problems so far)!!! i was thinking about selling it 100k scares me.... everyone has been telling me once u hit 100k on these engines start saving up to replace it in the near future.... hopefully there wrong
Take a look around Rocky, There's no reason to sell it around 100k....many of these engine will go 300k! I'm sure some of those guys will chime in. Just like anything else, take care of it, and it will take care of you...

Does it burn any oil? (Mine, '99 4.6 164,000 miles, burns some, mostly in winter.)
