Problems with blower motor?

Hey guys. I've been scouring for hours trying to find some relevant information on troubleshooting blower motor issues and haven't had much luck other than this thread....

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...eshooting.html

I have a 2005 X started having intermittent issues a few months ago with the front blower motor. I'm not sure the problem is actually in the blower motor, but I'm hoping to solve it.

The problem is the blower motor works fine for a day or two and then will randomly just stop working for several days to a week. Then, randomly it will kick back on.

From what I have found on here, the blower resistor can go out commonly in fords and you start losing speeds until you just have one. This is not my problem. The fan just does not kick on what so ever. When it does work all speeds are working fine.

What I have tested out.

I have tested all fuses and replaced all of the smaller ones.

The ones that tested fine were

#10, #28 and number 107. I have replaced all of these just for grins.

I've pulled the relay and tested the pin outs for 12v.
- Pin 30 is constant 12v with key in and in acc position and with key out.
- Pin 85 is getting 12v with key in acc position.
- Pin 86 was tested for ground and works fine.

I replaced the relay, but I am not hearing a click when I am inserting it. Could it be this?

I have tested power at the blower motor. The 2 wire power input plug has 1 to 2v only on the power side. I think that this is a problem, but am unsure as I am not finding anything to indicate what voltage I should be getting.

I did pick up a new blower motor and replaced the one that was in there to only find that I have the same problem. This only took 20 minutes to pull and replace and only cost me 41$ at Orielly's

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Further info on the truck.

2005 Excursion Limited with dual climate controls. Rear controls are dials and the front controls is the electronic set up with the auto control feature. This unit has gone black on me 2 years ago, but came back when I cycled my lights. It is functional(as in it is displaying).

TIA....

John
