I found a pair of upper control arms and coil springs out of a 76 Pinto/Mustang II in my garage yesterday that I had forgotten about. Anybody looking for same? If so, let me know before I put them on Ebay...
I don't know about that (being referred to as economy types in kits). These are stock upper control arms for a 1976 Mustang II or Pinto. The coil springs came out of a 76 Pinto with a V6. I know what these are because I personally pulled them out years ago. The only reason I didn't use the upper control arms was that in my application (29 Ford) they interfered with the fender braces and I had to use tubular upper control arms. These will work fine for a truck where you have no such clearance problems.
I can't for sure if the V6 springs will work, but my guess is that unless the V8 is a big block, they should be okay. The engine sets back 8-12 inches from where the V6 originally sat on the Mustang suspension, so you don't need a heavy spring. The spring question is one of the reasons I'm going Volare so I don't have to figure that out. You might check with some other guys who have used MII suspensions to see what kind of springs they used.
"or girly 302, then a SBC shouldn't be a problem either."
No Sir, an SBC will always be a problem. BTW, if they start allowing the SBC owners to refer to any Ford engine as "girly", I just don't know how I'll be able to deal with that. I thought I only have to take Bowtie abuse at car shows.
