2000 mustang front end swap to 51
#2
Welcome to the forum.
Anything can be done with enough time and money.
The big down side to the late model Mustang front suspension is it's a strut style front suspension. That means you would need to fabricate some kind of strut towers and tie them into your 51's frame.
To me it's more trouble then it's worth when there are so many easier set ups to use.

Here's my answer to a similar question recently. He's asking about Thunderbird suspension, but the same rules apply.

Thanks
Thanks guys for the help I just bought me a 51 F1 and wanting to change the front end and rear end out and my research has shown the CV and Jag and mustang II are the popular swaps but kinda hard to find around here. Most of junk yards only have newer stuff it's seems. Guess I'll keep looking.

The MII, just to be clear, isn't really used from the actual Mustang. They are aftermarket kits designed and engineered to work in the particular application. They're called Mustang II because the geometry and dimensions used in the kits is based off that original design. It's compact, lightweight, and is overall an excellent design offering good handling, disc brakes and r&p steering, all of which was a rarity when the street rod crowd started using it in the 80's.

Hello, one point comes to mind. You may or may not realise this. With the Mustang 11 front ends, they really mean a specially made front end using the mustang principles. This is not a front end from a Mustang, it is not strong enough, as I understand. The Jag and CV ones are suitable from wreckers though.
Welcome to the forum and I hope you have a ball with your truck.

Hey Dgrant,
Welcome aboard! I'd go after the rear end suspension replacement first.
It's much more straight forward & should take a weekend or two. The front suspension is pretty involved with frame cutting & welding. I wouldn't just assume you need a new front end - you can upgrade the existing one to be pretty decent.
I'm not sure what part of Texas you are in but you should be able to find an Explorer 8.8 inch rear suspension pretty much anywhere or a 9 inch Ford truck rear end.
Good luck over there.

Thanks again
Thanks for the insight on the mustang II. I am from Midland west Texas. I have done a rear end swap in an old jeep I had wasn't to bad and I do understand it's not going to be an easy project on the front end I got plenty of time on this ol thing and am very excited to tackle it. Been reading several built threads and think I've come to the right place to get the help. Thanks again fellas looking forward to more help "cause I'm gonna need it" lol. I have a cousin that lives in Dallas might look up there for a jag doner for this project you ask junk yards around here and they laugh seriously had a guy laugh at me.
