Y block Bellhousing question

Do you have the narrow "square" bell to trans pattern? Isn't that the same for 3 and 4 speeds of that same era? Are you sure there is a difference between the 3 and 4 speed bells?

These dudes say you have to use the 3 speed bell, the 4 won't work. Don't know why.

They are mod'ing a y bell, vs. using an adaptor.
Input shaft length is an issue as well as the bolt pattern.
FWIW, Modern Driveline gave me a quick answer via email on a question. Looks like the guy above welcomes phone calls.
