Part 2 ‪7.3 Ford Rusted Oil Pan Repair Kit (2 of 2)‬‏ - YouTube
I don't know about anyone else but I want a permanent fix not some coverup
well if you want a permanent fix then dont replace it with another stock oil pan unless you treat it! This thing will last pretty damn long if done right...i bought my truck with a new oil pan on it and POR'ed it right away...I don't know if I'd go the route of the cover, I just put it up in case someone needed somethign to hold them over for a while and didnt mind the $250 in order to avoid a catastrophy....
there are some good tidbits of info in the video as well....namely the shop vac on the drain plug in order to create negative pressure inside the pan and pull what ever you coat it with through the rust and fully seal it up.....pretty obvious it seems, but clever either way.
the factory pans are stamped thin in some spots, as im sure someone has previously mentioned... consider an aftermarket pan if you want to bolt something on and not worry about it
Hows it holding up and did you strip to bare metal before line-x?
still looks great! granted its only been on for a couple months but looks just like it did when i first put it on. i didnt strip the paint but line-x did. they sandblasted it down and sprayed. i too was concerned about the temps and asked the guy at the line-x dealer what temps it was good for and he said a couple hundred degrees. i then thought that bedliners sit outside in the baking sun all day long and dont crack or fade so under the truck with atleast 10-75 mph worth of wind flowing across it should keep it cooled enough.......jmo.....
Well some good info. Havent been on the site much last couple of weeks. But i did finally finsh mine. Ended up with 3 coats of rust bullet on mine. I will see how good it holds up i guess! I will start to use my truck more now and keep a close eye on it. Joe
I am a Waterproofing/ Specialty Coating Contractor and recently had a meeting with a Representative from this company Repair Don’t Replace - Concrete Repair, Equipment Repairs, Erosion Corrosion Resistance, Slip Resistance
Some of there products were pretty impressive here are a couple products that might work for repairing these pans. Mine is not rusted out but would give this a shot before having to yank the motor.
