I have an idea. Why don't you take the mufflers off of it and have someone drive by your house at 2AM and see how you like loud then. You may think it is cool but most folks that are in ear shot of you won't care for it.

Straight piped, Offroad MBRP 4". It still wont be terrible loud as Your turbo acts as a muffler. To last poster, my truck is no louder than a gt stang, unless my turbo is at about 20lbs, and I am on it! I drive through town at 2am and it is quieter than the harley's. If you get awoken by a truck driving by, you aint tired!

Beef, if you replace the muffler section with a muffler delete pipe, like Adam suggested, it'll be louder.
Perry, unlike the Cummins, you can't really make a 7.3L obnoxious. You can't even really make them as loud or rumbly as a 6.0L PSD.

Turbo, different firing order? my guesses. O and higher revving/more boost, 4 valves per cylider different injection.

The variable vane turbo on the 6.0 creates a different exhaust note and whistle.

a cummins can easily be louder and more obnoxious than a straight piped 'stang
a 7.3 without a muffler will not be too much louder than stock
the worst that can happen is that your truck will sound like a vacuum cleaner at idle
what causes this anyway? i have heard 6.0 trucks that were idling and the turbo sounds like its at full boost just whining away
