Tuner advice needed.

Just installed new oil cooler, egr delete, coolant filter, and a new Mishimoto radiator on my 06 F250. Am I ready for my tuner or do I need to install head studs first? I have been looking for a good used SCT tuner, but need to know what model and what to look for when purchasing from an individual. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

yes you can get a tuner without studs but dont drive it like you stole it either. i would recommend matts tunes for the non studded truck. as for the tuner itself make sure that it is unlocked and unmarried because if not you have to send it to SCT and get it unlocked and its 150 for them to do that. the X3 only holds custom tunes and the SF3 holds both canned tunes and custom. i would just get an x3 cuz i dont like the canned tunes anyways but thats just me.

See here: this guy did a stud/head gasket without pulling engine or lifting the body.

everything has to come off. heads, rocker box, injectors, the whole 9 yards! there have been people who installed arp with just removing one bolt at a time but i wouldnt do it its too risky!

Pull heads, w/cab on or off, have em check for flatness/cracks, REPLACE head gaskets, get arps and you'll be set.

Thanks for the help fellas. I gues I should have done it while I had everthing apart the first time. Oh well, one lost weekend is better than blown engine.

I need a little more knowledge. After doing all the work to my truck I got two egr codes, so I put the egr valve back in and plugged it in. Codes went away and ran great for about a mile then through code P2284. If I put my foot to the floor it runs like never before, but if I'm not accelerating it spits, sputters, surges, and sometimes feels like the trans is slippin. Any Ideas?
