hi i was wondering will a 360 cyclinder head fit on a 390 block i need a cylinder head for this engine im working on any interchange information would be great thank you
The 1968/76 F100/350 360 head is the same as a like 390 head. There are two types:
1968/71: Casting number C8AE-H heads do not have hardened valve seats / 1972/76: Casting number D2TE-AA heads do.
Note: The C8AE-H heads were also used on some 1968/71 390 and 1968/70 428 Passenger Cars. Many of these cars came with smog pumps.
The heads have pre-drilled holes for the smog manifolds to thread into. Some 1974/76 F100/350's also came with smog pumps, so the D2TE-AA heads may have the threaded holes.
Ford offered a tapered plug used to plug off these holes: C6AZ-6052-A. While obsolete, many can be found NOS. You may find heads with these plugs already installed.
