Rear door ext window trim??

Is the lower window trim on the exterior of the rear door removable and useable?? I have some rust on the bottom front corner of both rear doors I want to sand down and repaint b4 it is too late. I need to know if the trim can be removed and put back when done without damaging it.

Tks in advance!!!

Yes it is removable and reusable. I don't recall the X specifically without looking at the door, which I can do tomorrow if you would like, but most have a screw or bolt holding it on that you can see when the door is fully opened. For some reason tho on the X I think it is different. Just clipped on. You will find it easier to take off the interior panel, pull off the interior rubber trim that runs on the inside at the bottom of the window and then use a light to see the way that it is clipped on. It is 10:30 pm now, so a little dark to see right now, but I will look in the morning and let you know for sure.

had a look this morning and it is even easier than I imagined. No need to even remove the interior panel, unless you want to take off the inside bottom rubber trim.

Roll the window down all the way and start peeling the rubber from the front of the door. It is just a firm press fit. When you get to the area at the back of the door where the rubber turns sharply up just pull directly up with the rest of the trim. It has a metal insert in the rubber that has a hook in the back that slides into a slot in the door. It simply pulls straight up with the rest of the trim to unhook.
Have fun with the rust fix.
