Thanks! I'm actually at the Easter Cross Radio Facility in Emerald Hills of Redwood City.

You've gotta find someone who has access to surplus auctions. Since you're SoCal, check out 100dollarman.com. He sells all the military tires, from 36" up to 53". He's in Lucerne, near Victorville. He also gets in surplus trucks regularly. Eventually I hope to buy a truck (either Blazer or deuce) and some tires from him.

As I'm sure you know, the highboys sit about four inches higher. Your lift options are 2" or 4" from Skyjacker or making your own if you want more. There is a great thread on here that describes how to use Superduty front springs and Chebby rears for tons of lift options.

My SWB 79. Right around 12 inches in the front. 10 in the back (based on stock height), and 44 inch hawgs.

After seeing the link to Carrier Spring, it looks like you could use their springs for about the same price as the Superduty/Chebby spring swap and with a lot less work. Do the newer springs really ride better? If so, why? Are they longer or is it because of the spring width?

Depends on your truck, for mine the SD were all but bolt on. My guess is the type of material used in the spring, and the taper of them that allows new springs to perform better. As far as the chev springs go, theyre 64" long whereas ours are 56" and offset iirc, that extra 8" and being centered allows them to ride smoother and flex better than ours, not to mention the above stuff.

1978 F150 short bed. 429 Bigblock 4 Spd tranny. 9" skyjacker suspension, 39" swampers on 15x12 wheels. Doing body work now, thats why its 3 different colors. Slow but steady process. Not much, but its what i got, and i will never sell her.
