Sorry guys, YES I AM HOME! I got in the evening of the 5th. I got most of my inprocessing done today but have to go back tomorrow and finish up with a pt test. It feels great to be back again. I took Mater out for a little drive today and he is running good. All these parts in the garage are screaming at me to put them on but I need to paint first! Gonna call Dave tomorrow about getting some parts that I need still and talk about painting. Well I'm off to bed so i can do this test tomorrow!
Thanks guys, it is good to be back. I have been busy everyday since I been abck doing something. Tomorrow I am going to start taking Mater apart and getting ready for paint.

Bet it felt great to roll down the highway behind the truck. I know I enjoyed it when I got the Princess back a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds like you almost need to go back on vacation again just to get some rest.
At this point I'd make some witty comment, or some other unless nonsense. Believe it or not, I'm at a loss of words this morning. I did read that at 1126 EST today the last Space Shuttle flight (Atlantis) will launch/blast-off into space. I still remember as a young kid my dad taking me over to LRAFB in the early '80s to see one of them on the back of the 747 transporter NASA uses. I couldn't tell you which one, I just remember how HUGE that was.
Hell of a day for me. I was PM'ing a truck at work checking stuff like normal. Get to the #2 u-joint. Caps has been spinning & a lot of play in it. Finished the PM & got back to the joint after I finished the other repairs. Spent a little time moving it around & checking it out. Decided its either well on its way out or about to come out (would have to know how most of the drivers treat these trucks). Had another mechanic look at it & he said mess with the straps but with all the play in it, it probably need to be replaced. Got to taking it out. Doug had to help me get the F'ing caps knocked out since they were in the yokes GOOD. After it was apart you could clearly see the joint was bad. So I hit the parts room looking for a new one. About that time the supervisor came out bitching about something & tore into me. "Put it back together, grease the hell out of it, rebend the straps & let it run." While I was picking up the bearings Doug & I got to talking & we went back to the parts washer to look at the joint. It was clear that it was bad. Put it back down & pulled my hand out from under it. Sliced my finger open on something on the joint that was boogered up. Went to the nurse & did all that stuff. Came back & did my paper work since it was about time to go. As I was getting my stuff picked up the I saw that the super was putting a new joint in the slip yoke. I figure next week when the real supervisor gets back I will have another butt chewing but oh well. Ill just ask him what he would rather me do, look past it, grease it & let it roll or change it out & possible save a service call, tow bill, more BS & down time for the truck.
/rant Sorry fellas, just had to get that out.
Good news is its Friday, IM playing some paintball tomorrow & I went & looked at yet another truck today. '89 F150 XLT Lariat, EFI 300I6, 5speed, regular cab, short bed 2wd. Inside or outside isnt THAT bad. Motor fires up just fine. Parked it cause a freeze plug popped but there is no water in the oil so thats real good. $650 with a clean title! More than worth it in useable spare parts for my 94 & 90 plus a newer model frame for my '77 F100.
Waved good bye to the kid's Jeep as it motored up the driveway under it's own power for the first time in a year.
Final bill(on me, of course)$1550 in parts and about 20 hours labor. What'd I get for my investment? A warm 6 pack of beer...4 Dos xx's and a couple of Coors lites. Yay.
Started sanding on Mater. I got the passenger side of the bed done. I am going to start on the driverside tomorrow. I have te get my roll of sandpaper replaced. When I peel off a disk the underlying disks are covered in sticky stuff. Makes me mad!
