Same EXACT thing happened to me...I started it up and heard a "POP" but still had power steering and charging etc..(I was hoping it was a belt)...It was the bottom hose. I went to "Track Auto" and got a replacement hose (about 40 bucks I think), replaced it added some PSF turned it all the way to the left and right pumped the brakes a few times, topped it off and it has been strong ever since. Easy fix

Here is my thread when mine went: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...xtra-time.html No other info really. Oh, I would bring the old one with you...there are a few sizes. good luck!

Pretty common thing.
If your truck was built after Aug 12?? '97 or so it will have a different hose that the parts stores usually don't stock.
Otherwise all the local stores here have the older ones in stock, which you should find for your '95.
Price isn't too bad and definietly not worth trying to repair the old one

The white one is a back up ring to keep the o ring from blowing out. Some use it, some don't. If the threads and flare are the same then it will work fine.
I saw one of you say you paid 40 bucks for the bottom hose. You got ripped. It's nothing more than 3/8 transmission cooler line. I also very highly recommend putting a 3/8 inline transmission filter on it when you have to replace it. They are cheap insurance.
If you got a whole bottom hose with a new cooler and everything that wraps around in the crossmember then seriously you wasted your money. Next time just cut the metal tube right below where they crimped the hose on and hose clamp a new hose on with that filter in the middle. It's just a return hose. Absolutely no pressure on it.

Them dam things rust through as easily as brake lines do.
Also, if you run larger tires, you can drill out that fitting that goes into the pump just a hair more, maybe 1 drill size, and you won't believe how easily your steering turns.
I did that on my '96 with 33" tires about 10 years ago and it's quite different from my stock '97.

Not true for all of us living in the salt/rust belt.
