Here's where they sent me per my latest request at build sheet information. Looks like a Marti report on Ford letterhead, with a $2 charge tacked on top. Looks like they've outsourced the operation too since it says it comes directly from the supplier.
Add this to the FAQ's??? Or maybe replace the old link?
Wow, I just recieved a build sheet for my 1980 F150 about 3 months ago. Came from Ford, looks exactly like the $48 "deluxe" sheet, except for the signature. Cost was free, I simply called the Ford customer care number and talked to very pleasant woman, that *actually* spoke english, and about 6 weeks later the build sheet arrived, free of charge.
I thought about ordering one for dad's truck, but the window sticker is more detailed, and it's in the glovebox along with all the other reading material Ford put in there in that little "litter bag" thingamajig......
I've used the Ford service before - not for my truck, but my Galaxie. I simply wrote Ford a letter, and a couple weeks later got a phone call saying they'd send me this letter, which came a couple weeks after that. I think mine was the basic build sheet, without any production numbers.
The basic build sheet from this website is a waste of money, because Ford will do that for free. My letter looks exactly like the one in the picture. Who wants to bet they take down your information, order the letter from Ford themselves, then forward it to you after taking your money. That's like paying someone to fill out a change of address form at the post office for you.
I too opted for the free "build sheet" from Ford, in all honesty it didn't reveal much information, or at least anything that i wasn't already aware of, it's free so there's no harm in requesting one.

Yeah, the info is pretty basic. Certainly no harm in requesting one, for sure. It just might prove there's still lots of interest in the older pre-computer gizmo iron.......
The last few I had done were free as well, but it appears that they've changed their service. I contacted their customer care via e-mail and they sent me to the ford gear store.

The basic build sheet that is provided free from FoMoCo: Ford gets this info from Marti, you wanna know why?
In the late 1980's, FoMoCo was planning to THROW AWAY all the specs that covered 1967/79 vehicles.
Kevin Marti, a 'Mustang nut' in Phoenix AZ found out about FoMoCo's plan...and GOT ALL OF IT!
When you request the free basic build sheet from FoMoCo, it takes 4 to 12 weeks to receive it. Since FoMoCo has none of this info any longer, they have to get it from Marti (martiauto.com).
Much more info is available from Marti, but there is a fee for his services which escalates, depending on how much info you want. This is known within the hobby as a Marti Report.
