injector replacement parts needed?

The injectors have arrived, I also bought a valve cover gasket and a slew of o-rings for the fitting on the oil rail supply line. I will be doing this work tomorrow and the dealer is closed on saturdays, what other parts if any should i have on hand? Already have oil change parts as well as new fuel filters on hand. Also, on an 03 is the oil supply line an stc fitting? If so, what is the method for disconnecting it? Can it be done without special tools?

Thanks-

When I replaced the four odd numbered ones on my truck last summer, we reused the valve cover gasket; 20k miles later no oil leak. I'm pretty sure you can reuse them (they're made of rubber). The bottom two valve cover bolts by the a/c box will be a pain in the butt. To disconnect the oil rail, one of those really thin die grinder wrenches to be the best tool...it'll have a big enough opening to get to both sides of the quick-connect fitting to release it. If no one has brought this up...once you get it back together; it will take it a while to fire off once you start cranking on it. You've got to re-fill those oil rails with the HPOP before the sticks will shoot fuel into the cylinders.

You can use a die grinder wrench to disconnect the oil line at the HPO rail. You shouldn't need the valve cover gasket as the factory are reusable. You'll need something like q-tips to clean out the oil in the injector hold down bolt holes. 12mm deep socket and flex head gear wrench, 10mm flexhead gear wrench. 11mm or 7/16" deep socket. FWIW--if you can't get the oil rail STC fitting to disconnect you can use a thin flat open end wrench and screw it out of the rail and leave the flex line in place. Call me if you have questions, but you should breeze right through. One other thing you might want to do........when you get all the sticks out disable the fuel pump and crank the motor a couple of times to squirt the fuel out of the cylinders. Be sure you cover the head with a towel and weigh it down or you'll have a diesel geyser.

DON"T OVERTORQUE THE VALVE COVER HOLD DOWN BOLTS. They really don't take much and easy to strip.

If you don't have them don't get them just for this, but they sure make working on a 6.0 a LOT easier. I use the 12mm flexhead and a lot of patience for the back two valve cover bolts by the HVAC box.

If you do decide to invest in a set get the ones that are twisted 90*. Sears has them. You'll need 8mm - 19mm and IIRC all comes in a set for about $100, maybe less.

Well, she's all back together and running like a champ again! My sincere thanks go out to all. I took pictures at various stages during dis-assembly and will post them a little later on. Now its time to clean up. Tomorrow I will be installing the new blue fuel spring kit, it came in the mail today from partsguyed. life is definitely good again!
