a werid problem ?

Ok i have a problem thats stumping my mind driving me crazy because i good with finding out problems on my excursion and fixing it my self with info on this site or word of mouth so here it is couple months a go wife was driving up a hill the truck went into limp mode shut power down to half had towed to a mech shop he found the code po 1299 cylinder head over protection mode. cleared code let it run for three hours never over heated. so i was fine for couple months the last week i was drivng down the interstate the check engine light popped on then the temp gage spiked to redline oil light came on it lost power limp mode again pulled over popped the hood found the over flow bottle leaking a little not much let cool down 5 mins restated truck all gages went to normal got home put the code reader on it same code cleared it now its fine now i have anew water pump t stat coolant flushed it it not having any water in oil no bubbling from over flow showing exhaust leaking in water i need help please and where is the cylinder head temp sensor located?

This link reads as though it is for the same engine and year...says there are two temp sensors if memory serves, but both are not head temp sensors.
